School Messenger Note on February 17, 2021

Dear AMRLS families,

As many of you are aware we are celebrating Winterlude this week as a whole school by taking part in a number of winter-themed activities.  On Friday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm students and staff will be celebrating Winterlude asynchronously.  All families and staff are encouraged to go outside to play in the snow.  Students will be provided with choice boards of activities but any outdoor play is encouraged.  We hope families will share pictures of their play during this time with their teachers.  With parent permission, we will put together a slideshow to be shared on Morning Announcements.  Staff will be sharing their outdoor play photos as well.  We look forward to hearing about the fun students had playing in the snow!

Hello Families,

As you may have seen through AMDSB social media accounts, all report cards will be uploaded and available for viewing by the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 26.  There has been a new parent-portal developed to improve ease of access to student information.  Please self-register if you have not yet done so. For more information and to self-register please see the Board Webpage linked here.  If your email does not work during the registration process please call the school secretary, Mrs. Freiter at 519-527-0111 ext. 112 to update your current email in our system.

Kindly,

Shannon Hughes

Please be advised that AMRLS on-line learning will end at 2:00 on March 18, April 8 and April 29 to allow all educators to participate in on-line learning sessions. We will be engaged in professional development on a wide variety of topics important to teaching in a remote learning environment. On these ‘early dismissal afternoons,’ activities will not be provided to students.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Shannon Hughes
Dear families,
As you are aware, our usual process for providing access to student IEPs in the student portal is currently unavailable.  We have made arrangements with your home school to have the IEP available for pick up or mailed to your home beginning March 11.  Before going to your home school, please call the school to ask if you can make arrangements to pick up the document or ask for it to be mailed to your home if you are unable to go to the school.
Sincerely,
AMRLS Admin

Hello AMRLS families,
We have been made aware that Rogers is experiencing outages.  This is impacting the LTE devices (internet-enabled iPads).  We understand that Rogers is working to solve the issue.  We will send a message when we have been notified the issue has been resolved.

Dear grade 1 families,
As you will have noticed, there has been a new face join the grade 1D class.  Mr. Melton is returning to his teaching duties in AMRLS and is beginning to take over teaching responsibilities in your child's class.  As of May 3, Mr. Webb will be teaching the mornings and Mr. Melton will be teaching afternoons.  On May 10, Mr. Melton will be back as the full-time teacher of the 1D class.
We are so very thankful to have had Mr. Webb teach 1D while Mr. Melton was off.  We know he will be greatly missed.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Melton and saying a fond farewell to Mr. Webb.
